Smokers develop more complications than non smokers. It is in your best interests to stop smoking six weeks before your operation, however if your surgery is arranged at short notice, you should not smoke for at least 48 hours before the operation.
Belverdale has a smoke free policy. Smoking is prohibited within the confines of the Hospital.
The hospital can arrange smoking cessation assistance, please discuss this with your GP preoperatively or your nurse at the time of admission. |   |
